Things I repeatedly take for granted:
-being able to sleep through the night
-being able to breath through my nose
-being warm but not 103 degrees
-medicine that solves sickness
-being able to rely on God
-feeling well rested
-having amazing friends who make me feel better just be being them
-having access to my mom to whom I can complain and get advice from
-warm room with a TV to help me fall asleep
-being comforted that I am only a drive away from the doctor
-knowing that God will pull me through
-that any kind of sickness is only for a season and never as bad as it seems

Speaking of our Mighty Creator:
"Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand,
or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens?
Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket,
or weighed the mountains on the scales
and the hills in a balance?"
"You Heavens above, rain down righteousness;
let the clouds shower it down.
let the clouds shower it down.
Let the earth open wide,
let salvation spring up,
let righteousness grow with it;
I, the Lord, have Created it."
"Why do you say, O Jacob, and complain, O Israel,
'My way is hidden from the Lord; my cause is disregarded by my God'?
Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom."
I encourage everyone to read the whole chapter of Isaiah 40... there is a treasure trove of gems in those verses. Isaiah is a great book overall too if you are looking for something to read.
Camping is wonderful but also challenging, in both physical and spiritual ways. All I can say about the former is that we were very unprepared for the temperture drop we experienced at night. =) Regarding my relationship with God I was blown away by him this weekend. One look at our gorgeous campsite hidden in the trees, surrounded by the beautiful green foliage that is the central coast, and I was in awe of Him who created it all. I was challenged though by this. I had to ask myself, why do I only praise his name when I see plants or scenery? His creation extends way past the trees, flowers, and animals we have in our world. God created us as well. This may seem obvious but he created every human being on this planet and I realized that I should be lead to praise his name when I see people too. I see Jesus in my friends and family every day but never think to give God the credit for the amazing personalities I have the privilege of knowing. I also don't treat those around me as God's creation. Our society is becoming more and more 'Eco-Friendly' every day... what about people friendly? How am I treating people; from a God centered persepective or a temporal outlook?
Another thing that really hit me this weekend was the extent of the power of God. When you are outdoors, away from the lights of SLO, the night sky is breathtaking. The inifinite amount of stars, planets and sheer space is incomprehensible and stunning. I began to think of how I relate all of this wonder to God and his authority over the universe. I was left wondering how could you explain the magnitude of what you see without worshipping the Lord? I wish everyone knew the pure joy I feel to personally know the one who created all of this. And I wish everyone could see that our world did not come from a big bang or complete chance. It was intelligently designed by a creator that is immeasurably bigger then we can imagine and who's love for us is just as big.

I decided that the best place to start blogging would be at my family. They are such a huge part of who I am that I have to give them some sort of a shout out. =) My older sister, Amanda, just arrived in Australia today for a year of worship and kangaroo burgers. She is attending the Hillsong Academy, right outside of Sydney, and I am stoked to see how God will use her and her passion for music this year! He has big things in store for her. My little sister, Kimberly, is a sports star. She rocked cross country this year as a freshman and ran at varsity times in all of her meets. She had never run before this year and she is simply amazing at athletics! =) She also plays basketball and unknowingly stuns the boys with her beautiful baby blues.
My parents are well, the best! My mom is wonderful and I am reminded everyday of how much she has given me. She is definitely the most fashionable mother I have come into contact with and she knows how to deal with anything I throw at her. Her creativity got passed down to us kids in much smaller doses then she has though. My dad is one of my best friends. =) He is basically epic...he even beats William Wallace (which is nearly impossible to do and if you know me is a big big deal). Overall I just have to say that I am blessed daily by my family and couldn't ask for anything more. =)
I have officially lost track of how many journals I have started and then left incomplete to collect dust on my shelf. Electronic journals are no different... this might just be my third blog attempt. I have decided to give myself the benefit of the doubt however and give blogging one more valiant attempt. Stay tuned... hopefully. =)
